Media Strategy Internship

This summer I interned OMD, a worldwide media agency. I worked on their Ancestry.com account which was fast paced and constantly changing. My team incorporated me in almost every task so I got great exposure to working at an agency. I assisted my team with segmentation work by gathering insights on each segment through MRI. I also did research on Ancestry's competitors using Google searches and iSpot to include on weekly and monthly competitive reports.
Social Media Internship

Through my internship with Piazza Marketing Concepts, I have been exposed to the real world of marketing and have gained first hand experience with social media marketing. I create social media content and analyze social media engagement for a client.
Social Media Coordinator
Cal Poly Open House Committee
I was on the marketing team for Cal Poly's Open House Committee. I was responsible for creating social media content that would encourage prospective students and their parents to attend. This year was the 25th Anniversary of Open House, so alumni were also encouraged to come back to Cal Poly and reminisce on their college days. Being on Open House committee gave me exposure to what goes into planning and executing a large scale event.
Cal Poly WOW Leader

As a Cal Poly WOW (Week of Welcome) leader, I am one of the first faces freshmen see on campus. In order to prepare, I went to Spring quarter training where I learned good customer service and communication skills. My partner and I were responsible for creating a week long schedule for our group, planning every aspect of each day. During the week we were able to show freshmen around San Luis Obispo and give them advice on how to succeed in college. I really loved being able to make connections with them and have a positive influence on their college experience.
American Marketing Association

Coming to Cal Poly, I knew that I wanted to have a concentration in marketing. At the start of my freshman year, I got involved in Cal Poly's American Marketing Association and became an official member. Through the club, I was able to learn more about marketing and especially personal branding. I also had the opportunity to go on corporate tours. This year, I have been involved in the Events Committee as the Social Events Lead. I plan social events to promote positive inter-club relations.
